2021: The year to get finance fit

After a tough 2020, we think this year is the one to get your finances in check. Whatever you need support with, there are plenty of great apps to help you find deals, create budgets and save money.

Budget tracker apps

There are loads of amazing budget tracker apps out there. Our favourites are Emma and Money Dashboard which allow you to keep track of all your finances in one place. They even do some analysis for you to help you work out where to make savings.

Give your Direct Debits a once over

It may sound like an obvious on, but many of us have direct debits going out for things we don’t even use. Whether it’s gym memberships, subscriptions or insurances on products we don’t need, so go through each one and check what is still useful.

Broadband supplier

While we are all spending so much time at home, fast reliable broadband has never been more important. Use a comparison site like Broadband Choices to check you’re not overpaying or whether you could get faster broadband elsewhere.

Gas and electricity

It’s usually one of our biggest expenses, but there are a plenty of ways to cut down the cost of your gas and electricity. Money Saving Expert can help with everything – from switching you over, to showing you the best options. But remember it’s not all about price; customer service and the percentage of green energy can also be important to you.

TV and streaming services

Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Sky, BritBox… the list goes on. But do you really need them all? You might be able to save some money by cancelling a few of your subscriptions for a month or two. Most services are cancel-anytime, so you can easily stop and start depending on if you fancy some Netflix originals or want to distract the kids with Disney.

Mobile

Now this one is easy. Good luck finding better value than SMARTY’s 30GB for £10 SIM plan. Or choose one of our unique money back plans, where you get money off your next bill for the data you don’t use. Then there’s our unlimited data plan for just £20 a month. And what’s more, you can flex between them all from month to month depending on your circumstances.

So, with all these handy options at your fingertips, it’s time to put your finances through their paces. Who knows, this time next year you could be a millionaire… we believe in you.
